I was riding my bike yesterday from Swan Valley to Victor to Jackson to Hoback Jct. then reverse. 123 miles. Climbed 4 passes. I concluded that it isn't the acutal summit itself that changes who we are, but the pains that go into getting there. That is where the charater is formed. I also had this thought that much of what I've done these past several years has been long, difficult and stupid! This bike ride and the lotoja for which I'm training is really no exception. Lotoja may be the culminating event of long, difficult and at times, stupid.

It's been a rough 2 + years. I feel like I've reached another summit it my life, though. It's been a different kind of summit, but like all summits, the trek to it has changed me. I like how it's changed me.

I'm forever grateful for the love and support of family and friends who have been my aid stations.

So fun to find you on line!

Your quotes on this blog reminded me of this one I have taped here by my computer:

"The best moments in our lives, are not the passive, receptive, relaxing times - although such experiences can also be nejoyable, if we have worked hard to attain them. The best moments usually occur when a person's body or mind is stretched to its limits in a voluntary effort to accomplish something difficult and owrthwhile. Optimal experiences is something that we make happen. Such experiences are not necessarily pleasant at time they occur, yet these could have been the best moments of life. Getting control is never easy and sometimes it can be definately painful. But in the long run optimal experiences ad up to a sense of mastery - or perhaps better, a sense of participation in determining the content of life - that comes as close to what is usually meant by happiness as anything else we can conceivably imagine." -Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi

I know why I love you so much! You are constantly ready for the next summit! Ready with physical endurance and spiritual faith to endure the trail and find the sunshine at the summit! Keep climbing! I'm grateful to have summitted a few peaks with you! xoxoxoxoxo
